Are you looking for a solution to make your own homemade heating pad? There is a really cheap and effective method that you can do if you need moist heat to ease tight muscles at home, or on the road. No sewing, rice or fabrics needed!
What do you need? All you need are two towels, water and a microwave. No microwave? No problem! A kettle or other source of hot water will do.
Solution to Making Your Own Heating Pad:
- Get one towel thoroughly wet. Wring it out so that it is not dripping wet, but you don’t want it too dry.
- Place the wet towel in the microwave, and set on high for 1 minute. If you don’t have a microwave, get the towel wet in hot water, and wring it out as best as possible without burning your hands.
- The towel will be steaming, when done in the microwave, so wrap it in the dry towel. If you are not using a microwave, you still want to wrap the wrung out, wet towel in the dry towel so that you don’t get wet.
- Place over tight muscles and enjoy the heat!
This method allows you to have deep moist heat, which penetrates deeper into your muscles than a dry heat source. By using towels, you are able to get the heat directly on the areas that are needed, unlike when you use a bulky pad or other pre-formed shape.
